Are scientists optimistic about the future of artificial photosynthesis?
prototype for an artificial photosynthesis
In the United States, research on artificial photosynthesis that aims to produce quality fuels continues to progress and receive government funding through innovation hub investments strategies
One of the innovation hubs, Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis, has claimed to have made significant progress in the past two years in regards to using replications of natural photosynthetic processes for artificial photosynthesis
More than 20 research centers, each specializing in various disciplines of photosynthesis (catalysis, optics, membrane technology, etc.) have been given a total of $122 million of funding to share for the next five years. If the government is giving scientists this sum of money to continue on with their research, they must be optimistic that, within the next ten years or so, efficient and working systems of artificial photosynthesis will be available for use

my opinion
With all the research I have collected in regards to artificial photosynthesis, I can see the promise it holds. If scientists are able to construct systems that can efficiently produce energy from carbon dioxide and water in the atmosphere, it will be a great alternative to how we produce energy now a days. In my opinion, it looks like scientists and researchers still have quite a long way to go until this process is complete, however, I think that within the next ten to twenty years we will be able to see artificial photosynthesis working up to its full potential
